Jazz, Blues and .....
Meeting once a month for a couple of hours in one of the group member’s homes, we will listen to and discuss a range of recorded music. Some of the meetings will be at my home in Stockbridge. Although the focus is on Jazz and Blues, we will frequently stray into other genres such as Rock and Folk. We’ll pick a topic for the following month at the end of each session to give members a chance to think of pieces to play.

Pickleball Group
Anyone interested in joining a Pickleball Group? It’s fast becoming one of the most popular racket sports. It combines elements of tennis, badminton and table-tennis. Players can play as both singles and doubles, using paddles to hit a plastic perforated ball between them. It is played on a badminton sized court using a net 34 inches high. It is a low impact sport that’s easy on the joints and can help you build your fitness while playing a fun and challenging game. Courts are available at Winchester Sport and Leisure Park for £11 per court per hour. Equipment is provided. If you are interested in starting a new U3A Group, please email me on the link below.

Family History / House History/ Genealogy Group
I am a volunteer at the Hampshire Genealogical Help Desk (H G S) at the Record Office here in
Winchester. I should like to know whether there might be any interest from members who would be
interested in the setting up a Family History / House History/ Genealogy Group.
Those living locally to Winchester would also be welcome to visit the HGS (Hampshire
Genealogical Society) Help Desk in the Winchester Record Office any Tuesday - Thursday incl.
10am - 4pm; The Record Office is situated close by Winchester Railway Station; no appointment is
needed. The desk is staffed by volunteers some of whom have experience of DNA research.
U3a members may also be interested to hear that we are looking to recruit volunteers at the H G S.
If you are interested please email April Wood Ashton

COOKING GROUP 2
When I joined the Cooking Group about 18 months ago, I did not know what I was letting myself in for! However, I have not regretted joining for one moment. How better to get to know people than by working together in the kitchen and then jointly devouring a delicious meal. Many of the recipes chosen have been so good that members have used them again at home. As Chris says, it would be good to form another group, and don’t worry if your kitchen is small. Mine is and it just makes the logistics more interesting. And it does not matter what your experience is.

Or if you would like to be put in contact with others who would be interested in forming a Group, please contact me by email John Craig or by phone using the Telephone Directory
And members of our Group have said that, in order to get a Group started, they would be happy to act as a mentor for a few meetings!
