Potential New Groups

POETRY 3
I would like to try starting a new poetry group. There are two already, but one is full and the other is only on zoom which won't suit everybody.
The new group would be for writers and/or readers of poetry. Members would be asked to bring a few poems to read for the enjoyment of the group at each monthly meeting. These poems could include their own work offered for comment or criticism if desired. I am a published poet myself and I think I could give such leadership as would be needed.

Family History / House History/ Genealogy Group
I am a volunteer at the Hampshire Genealogical Help Desk (H G S) at the Record Office here in
Winchester. I should like to know whether there might be any interest from members who would be
interested in the setting up a Family History / House History/ Genealogy Group.
Those living locally to Winchester would also be welcome to visit the HGS (Hampshire
Genealogical Society) Help Desk in the Winchester Record Office any Tuesday - Thursday incl.
10am - 4pm; The Record Office is situated close by Winchester Railway Station; no appointment is
needed. The desk is staffed by volunteers some of whom have experience of DNA research.
U3a members may also be interested to hear that we are looking to recruit volunteers at the H G S.

SOCIAL CRIBBAGE
We were wondering whether any u3a members might be interested in joining a monthly Social Cribbage afternoon?
Initially we would welcome up to two groups of four to play this interesting game of cards with the emphasis very much on being social and fun. We are happy to host in Olivers Battery with a break for tea and biscuits. The cost would be minimal just to cover the refreshments.
Beginners welcome – it’s not too difficult to learn!
If you are interested please email Jackie and David Warren
Here’s hoping…. Jackie & David Warren

COOKING GROUP
When I joined the Cooking Group about 18 months ago, I did not know what I was letting myself in for! However, I have not regretted joining for one moment. How better to get to know people than by working together in the kitchen and then jointly devouring a delicious meal. Many of the recipes chosen have been so good that members have used them again at home. As Chris says, it would be good to form another group, and don’t worry if your kitchen is small. Mine is and it just makes the logistics more interesting. And it does not matter what your experience is.

If you would like more information about the Cooking Group, please contact by email Chris Scott or by phone using the Telephone Directory
Or if you would like to be put in contact with others who would be interested in forming a Group, please contact me by email John Craig or by phone using the Telephone Directory
And members of our Group have said that, in order to get a Group started, they would be happy to act as a mentor for a few meetings!
