We meet once a month on the 4th Tuesday from 10.30-12.00, and we meet in the Littleton Hall although we did use Zoom quite a bit during the pandemic.
“I changed my phone recently, and I thought I had ordered exactly the same kind, but it’s not. I’d just managed to get on top of the old one, and now that’s broken. My kids say ‘It’s OK - just swipe it, Dad!’ But what does that mean? The mystery drives me insane. I don’t understand why they give you a phone and no instructions. You’re just thrown ill-equipped into the world of technology to fend for yourself”. Billy Connolly.
Are you the proud owner of a new, or an older much-loved Apple iPhone, iPad, laptop or desktop computer? Does it sometimes mystify, frustrate or defeat you? Such wonderful devices - but only if you understand them.
The u3a Applemac group is a friendly gathering of members who own Apple devices, and we all benefit from support from each other and from a knowledgeable “Apple” expert. We meet once a month for ten months of the year, but our expert is available by telephone any time. We have large enough accommodation at our meetings to welcome more members, so why not try us? Even if you have owned an iPhone, iPad or Mac computer/laptop for some time, and think you know how to do as much as you want with them, do you know how much more they can do? Alternatively, some of our members are only just beginning to explore their devices, so could you help them along the way?
The Applemac group has recently made a number of changes. We took on board some concerns about the computer side of the group being irrelevant to the owners of just iPhones and iPads. We want to support the needs of all our members at the same time, so we now have two short illustrated presentations each month instead of one longer one, ensuring there is always something for everyone, no matter your level of understanding.
The operating systems for the latest iPhones and iPads, computers & laptops are all growing more similar to each other every year, making it far easier to plan our presentations to cover everyone all of the time. In addition there is now much more time set aside for members to circulate, bring their own problems to our expert, and exchange tips with fellow members. We all get to know and help each other much more.
The meetings are on the fourth Tuesday morning of the month (January to July and September to November) in Littleton Hall. If you are interested in finding out more, please contact me.
